Swingin' SinglesSwingin' Singles was the second Scruffs album recorded in Glasgow, Scotland. The empathy across the water is clearly heard here in an album which captures all the strengths of Burns' muse. It's been a long road from 'Wanna Meet The Scruffs?' but 'Swingin' Singles' proves the journey is worthwhile. Click here to listen

Love, The ScruffsLove, The Scruffs is the first of three albums which Stephen Burns has recorded in Glasgow, Scotland.
He describes Glaswegians as "vinyl-junkies" and he has found a great raport with the many musicians he has worked with there. English-style pop with a Memphis flavour in Glasgow, Scotland? It works.... Click here to listen

Teenage GurlsTeenage Gurls is the natural follow-up to the Scruffs' debut album, Wanna Meet the Scruffs? From start to finish, it's full of the same passion-fueled, heart-twisting power pop, albeit with a little more polish. As Stephen Burns says today, "We simply wanted to define our style of anglo power-pop a bit more clearly and we wanted the musicianship to go up a notch as well. But the passion, rage and fury needed to remain, perhaps with a little bit more clarity." Click here to listen

MidtownMIDTOWN in Memphis, where left-of-center pop (and history) was made. Midtown is evidence the Scruffs went through a lot after Wanna Meet the Scruffs?.... but it also proves they came though the experience as a strong, mature band that deserved (then as now) to be heard. Wanna meet Stephen Burns? You'll find him in Midtown...

Back From the GraveBack From the Grave finds Burns writing lusher and more complex music. His anxious side has given way to a slightly more mature and philosophical outlook on both women ("Abiquiu" and the title song) and the world ("Catalans"). But Burns' fondness for British-influenced pop hasn't left him, and Signs and Symbols suggests that Burns still believes a nice melody and a good hook are the keys to the universe -- and who knows, he may well be right. ~ Mark Deming, All Music Guide Buy at:

AngstAngst, first released in 1997, is a collection of the earliest recordings of The Scruffs from the three years preceding the iconic album, "Wanna Meet the Scruffs?" of 1977.This disc has the boy/girl.... scenario down pat. There's also enough depression here to keep one down for days - unless.... you're buoyed by the sad stuff. Either way, lovers of luv, I do believe you're in for a treat.
